“A salon is a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase their knowledge of the participants through conversation. These gatherings often consciously followed Horace's definition of the aims of poetry, either to please or to educate” [Salon (gathering). Wikipedia]

Painting In Conversation: An International Exhibition of Paintings Made by Artists on Chelsea's MA in Fine Art
Painting In Conversation:An International Exhibition of Paintings Made by Artists on Chelsea's MA in Fine Art
Chelsea’s MAFA is comprised of an international body of artists who have all brought with them their unique cultural, political, and art making values influenced by their respective homes.
Chelsea’s MAFA is comprised of an international body of artists who have all brought with them their unique cultural, political, and art making values influenced by their respective homes.
This exhibition addresses the opportunities, unanticipated changes in trajectory, and even difficulties that have come about as a result of the shared intimate environment in the studio spaces with colleagues from all over the globe. Indeed, the conversations we have in our studios each day-- about painting history, our work, our lives and insights on the world--are proving to be influential for us and this exhibition showcases paintings that have been realised in this context. The works in this exhibition are a visual manifestation of our ongoing critical dialog with one another, spoken by manifold painters in manifold tongues.
