Open Call for Performance - Brunswick House Nov 14th

Brunswick House
30 Wandsworth Road
Vauxhall

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL CCW STUDENTS and Chelsea  ALUMNII !

Following our introduction for Chelsea MA students to the Chelsea Salon Series on November 8th in the Triangle space at 5.00 pm  we are holding an event in a space that we hope to be using in the future.  All CCW students are welcome.

Brunswick House is just over Vauxhall Bridge on the right and only a few minutes walk . It is a great venue with a wonderful bar and a zany collection of antique furniture. Jackson Boxer who runs the bar has incredibly generously donated the space to us exclusively on condition that everybody buys a drink which doesn't sound too onerous!

It also has a stage. We are looking for volunteers who would like to do some performance with Chelsea Alumnii and indeed for anybody who has ideas for performances which they would like to put forward to us.

IT SHOULD BE FUN so do all come along!

Chelsea Salon Series 2011-12

Jamie Wang - Chelsea College of Art & Design 2010-11

AIM: The Chelsea Salon Series  is conceived as an initiative offering students the opportunity to meet outside the college premises in a variety of spaces to exchange ideas and forge productive relationships with galleries , arts institutions and the locality. Chelsea College of Art is well placed to take advantage of  the proximity of not-for–profit spaces who are eager to make these relationships. This forum is intended  as an opportunity for students to get feedback in their practice and to experiment with ideas arising from their research thereby gaining confidence.  It is also supporting student led teaching projects as well as alumni projects. It is specifically intended to be hugely enjoyable and based on student interaction.
The Chelsea Salon Series is structured in such a way that allows for both PRACTICE and RESEARCH to be pursued alongside the curriculum in relaxed surroundings outside the academic  institution with fellow MA Fine Art students and other invited artists ,alumni, curators and arts professionals. Although centered around Chelsea specifically it is intended to be inclusive and open . and that this remit could help pave the way for support from educational charities.

Chelsea Salon Series - Chisenhale Gallery Thursday, August 18th

Urszula Dajerling - Chelsea College of Art & Design
Hello Everyone,
I've met with Chisenhale Gallery  and we've set the terms and conditions for everyone to be able to participate. The confirmed list of artists whose proposals i received on time have been listed below.
Due to the numbers involved we are going to focus on casual conversations with invited guests instead of a formal group critique. I would, however, be happy to organise smaller groups of artists who would like to discuss their work.  If anyone has any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Please see the terms and conditions below:
1. collection and transport: i will need 2 volunteers from each college to arrange for works to be delivered and assist in installation at Chisenhale Gallery. It would be ideal for as much work to be collected and delivered at once. There will be exceptions so please email me to discuss. Transport will need to be arranged by each college or individual and all works must be delivered by but not before 2pm. I will be at the gallery to collect.
2. installation: All works are to be ready to hang and installation instructions given. I'll be at Chisenhale Gallery to help install starting at 2pm. A small group of people is needed to help with installation and ONLY the installation crew will be installing work.
To maintain low maintenance and stress on staff and the gallery, we ask that only the installation crew arrive at 2pm (unless other arrangements are confirmed via myself). All other students are asked to arrive at 17:00.
Due to the nature of a salon, all works are to be installed provisionally. I ask that everyone  understand the limitations of space as well as the intentions of the salon series in regards to how work is displayed and presented.  Please provide Installation notes and be as detailed as necessary. anyone with questions or concerns about installation, please contact me.
3. video work: due to space, equipment, and request by the gallery, all video works that are not specifically part of an installation will be shown on a showreel. Alternatives are negotiable. The gallery has a fixed projector and laptop that will be made available. Again, there are exceptions and limitations so please contact me with specific concerns.

Thursday, Aug 18th
14:00 - Delivery and Installation
18:00 - brief introduction followed by casual conversation*

**DATE CHANGE** Chisenhale Gallery, Thursday, August 18th

Scott  Mason - Wimbledon College of Art
Hello Everyone,

sorry for the multiple announcements but my meeting with Chisenhale was moved to today. Originally, the salon was to take place in one of the project spaces. We're now being offered the gallery space as well but on Aug 18th. This would provide 2 extra weeks for students and Chisenhale staff to prepare. This will also allow for more students to participate and for the proposal deadline to be extended to Aug 4th. What i need now is details on the nature of the work that is intended to be shown, i.e performance, video, 2-D, 3-D, etc... Any questions, please don't hesitate to email.
best,
Josh
